Fun with my Zing

Hi All, I have a card to share today that I made using a new fun technique I stumbled upon thanks to the the awesome pen holders Steven at 3D Yours made for me.  This awesome pen holder is for my KNK Zing machine.   He made it so I could use the Sakura Gelly Roll pen in my KNK Zing, as those pens don't fit in the standard Zing pen holder.  What is really cool is that I also found out that I can also use the Sakura Quickie Glue pen in my Zing now too, they have the same barrel size so his holder works for both!

Now to the fun part, the glue pen allows me to heat emboss and cut the same project!  I love it!  So many more possibilities now!   For this card I used some beautiful free SVG files from Monicas Creative Room.  I used her Fancy Edge card 3 to die cut the bottom border of the card and the beautiful snowflakes are called Layerd Snowflakes 3, they look gorgeous embossed in white opaque embossing powder.

For all of you with die cutting machines, please check out Stevens Etsy Store called 3D Yours , he has pen holders for all sorts of pens and machines.  I also have another of his pen holders that will fit the Sharpie Ultra Fine pens.  If your machine is not there, ask him about it, that's what I did and he worked to get these made for me!  (I can not thank you enough Steven, the pen holders are really awesome!) They are really nicely made too, the pens snap into the holders for a really nice fit, no need to fiddle around or add anything extra to get it to work, just snap it on the barrel of the pen and screw it into place on the Zing!

I hope this finds everyone doing well, thank you as always for stopping by and thanks again Steven, the pen holders are awesome!   ~Diane

Who's the Boss?

Hi All, this month I have the honor of guest DT on Gloria Stengel's Craft Hoarders Anonymous challenge   Gloria has a fun challenge using our hoarded items, if you're like me you should have plenty of of those!   I hope you pop over and meet Gloria and her talented design team they are such a sweet group, I am you will love them, so come join the fun. Thank you Gloria for inviting me to be a part of this.
Challenge #12 Who's the Boss?
Show some embossing on your project. You can use dry embossing or heat embossing. You can use an embossing folder or a stencil. You can emboss with embossing paste or embossing powder. You can even create something with ultra-thick embossing enamel. You probably have some sort of embossing apparatus in your hoard! Pull these embossing tools out and put them to use!
This was really fun, I cut out a stencil with my KNK Zing  using one of Monica's Creative backgrounds, (can you believe I hoard cut files too!)  I smeared on some hoarded embossing paste onto black card stock, then used some of my hoarded Recollections embossing powder with glitter in it.  Heated it up and I have this really cool background.  The image is an old one from Gecko Galz called Between the Lines.  I used my Perfect Paper Crafting Mini Rulers to get the perfect black background trim around my image.  The pearls on a roll were purchased at Christmas last year and the little black satin bow with a pearl was from My Craft store customer garage sale 1 year ago!  How funny is that, it was put in the garage sale because someone hoarded it before me and I bought it and added it to my hoard!  It really feels good to start using up some of my stash.

It would be great if you could join in at Gloria Stengel's Craft Hoarders Anonymous challenge Who's the Boss.  Great way to push yourself to use up some of that hoarded stash., (she has some awesome prizes) and have some fun while your at it too.
That's it for today, thanks for looking.  ~Diane

Letting go of some of the hoard.

Hi All, I made this background while I was working on my gdt piece for Gloria Stengel's Craft Hoarders Anonymous challenge Who's the Boss.  I will show the one I made for the challenge on Friday, once I made the background I could not decide what to do with it, until today.  The background is from Bird, I cut it into a stencil so I could use up some of the beautiful embossing glitter I bought last year with birthday money.  I bought 2 jars of this beautiful Recollections embossing powder, but it also had some big pieces of glitter in it so I could not find a place for it to work out in the past.  It works beautifully on this stenciled background though. I laid out some embossing paste then the glittered embossing powder on top so it has a lot of dimension to it.   The other die cut is as old as the hills also ( 9/11/09 ) it came from the Vintage Moth blog, it was just a picture but I brought it into my Make The Cut program and did a pixel trace to turn it into a cut file for my electronic cutting machine the KNK Zing.  The lovely netting goes back to when my daughter worked for Zainy Brainy while she was in high school (she's now 29 yrs old), I have a jumbo roll we bought when they went out of business.  And to my surprise, when I went to peel off one of the rhinestones for her earrings I found out they were actually brads, ha ha, I grabbed them at the Customer Garage Sale at My Craft Store 1 year ago.  I paid 25 cents for a full card of them, they were in someone else's stash for quite a long time too.  Well, I am not that good at coloring so I used some Tim Holtz distress ink in antique linen along with a little worn lipstick pink for the skin tones and then weathered wood for her hair.  I wove the netting in and out of the cuts in the hat, then cut some of the stencil pieces out of the envelope liner to make it match.
It would be great if you could join in at Gloria Stengel's Craft Hoarders Anonymous challenge Who's the Boss.  Great way to push yourself to use up some of that hoarded stash., and have some fun too.

I just found a fabulous challenge site called COUNTRY VIEW CHALLENGE and they are looking for something "Stenciled" for their challenge STENCIL IT, perfect for my stenciled background.

And 1 more fun challenge I found called VINTAGE CHALLENGE, they are looking for me NOT TO USE STAMPS  So this die cut and stenciled piece will fit perfectly in that challenge.

That's it for today, thanks for stopping by.  ~Diane

Christmas card a week catch up

Hi All, I am behind in my Christmas card a week entry's, so here is week, 18, 19, and 20.
I made this for the challenge at Winter Wonderland calling for 3 of 3  .I made these using an SVG cut file for the ornaments from Bird called Baubles.  I layed it out using MTC software, then cut it on my KNK Zing onto white card stock.  I mounted 3 different colors of foil behind the 3 cuts and added a piece of glittered tape to the bottom. To round out my 3 of 3 I added
3 glittered rhinestones to the tops of the 3 ornaments.  The envelope is lined with a matching embossed foil.
I made the next 2 cards, (Merry Christmas and Seasons Greetings) for the Thats Crafty challenge calling for Masks, Templates, Stencils.  Since I loved the pretty ornaments so much I cut a stencil from the same arrangement onto some clear polyester sheet,  I placed the stencil over some red card stock, then applied some embossing paste over the stencil, removed the stencil and added some Stickles fine dry glitter in Stardust.  I let them dry together and the glitter stuck quite well to the embossing paste.  I added the ribbons made from embroidery floss and some rhinestones to finish the look, these are all 5 x 7 cards.  For the envelopes on these 2 I used the same SVG cut and added a foiled ornament to the cut out.  That's it for today, thanks for stopping by.  ~Diane
Updated to add, this card was chosen in the Top 3 at
Thats Crafty!  Thank you!

Hi All, today I am sharing my Gecko Galz DT piece using an image from this months Deco Art Collage sheet along with the papers from Gatsby .  The beautiful card jacket was cut with my KNK Zing from a free SVG cut file from Monicas Creative Room,   I used these same card jackets for bridal shower invites I cut for my daughters friends shower.  I adjusted the size slightly with the MTC software as they wanted a 5.5 x 8.5 card. That's it for today, thanks for stopping by.  ~Diane

Happy Easter

Hi All, I hope you are enjoying a nice Easter Sunday today.
This is the card I made from the tag I made for the Egg prompt at Tag Tuesday using Gecko Galz  A Touch of Easter image along with Solarium papers.
I watched my friend Lindsay, The Frugal Crafter make some cute little enamel dots in a video and thought it would work perfect for my eggs, I loved the results,  I can see me making more of these little things they are a bit addictive, lol.   I decided to be a bit adventurous and use some Dreamweaver Pearlescent embossing paste with a stencil I made with my KNK Zing.    That's it, thanks for looking, and for all your sweet comments.  ~Diane

Tuesdays tag and card

Hi All, I've started with the tag I made for Tag Tuesday and gone on to show what I made with the tag. For the tag I used some scrap cardboard to cut the tag from, I cut it with my Zing using one of Penny Duncan's free cut files.  I used the image from Geco Galz Travel On, framed it in Stickles, added the lace flower, paper flower, raffia and metal key. I placed the tag on a 5 x 7 card base that has been covered with a die cut made on my Zing.  Not sure that I can call it an actual die cut as I had my blade depth set too high and it merely scratched the surface, so I decided not to waste the piece and used it anyway, I like the look, so I highlighted it with some Ranger Lemonade distress ink.  I also added a little to the envelope liner as it was more beige than yellow.  Pop by Tag Tuesday and see what all the talented folks over there have created for the prompt Keys and Locks.
I am entering this into the
*Top Tip Tuesday challenge metal or faux metal challenge
In keeping with the challenge I must share a tip which I think I did above, even though my die cut did not cut all the way through, it can still be used as a background with a little distress ink.
That's it, thanks for stopping by.  ~Diane

Christmas Card a week #4

Hi All, here is my 4th Christmas card for the year, I will be so happy when November rolls around and I have these all done!  I used an image from Gecko Galz Christmas Chic collage set along with a sheet from the Gecko Galz Chocolate Box Paper collection.  I cut the fancy frame on my KNK Zing and used some Color Box Pewter ink to highlight it since I did not have the right shade of gray.  The Starburst jewels are from Pizzazz Aplenty,  and the ribbon is from my stash.  To save ink I did not print the liner in the red paper this time instead I embossed the gray paper liner to pick up on the snow flakes on the gray background.  Well that's it, thanks for stopping by.  ~Diane

I would love for you to join me at these Christmas card Challenge/ Link Ups.

Last chance for the Gecko Galz Very Valentines contest

Hi All, this is my last card for the Gecko Galz Very Valentines Contest.  It was a lot of fun working with the Gecko Galz images and the Basic Grey papers for this challenge (which must be emailed to Gecko Galz by tomorrow the 31st).  Don't for get the buy 1 get 1 (of equal) also ends tomorrow so there is still time to stock up.  For this card I used Gecko Galz Valentine Wishes image along with
the papers from Basic Grey  True Love paper set.  All images and papers were printed on Staples matte matte photo paper with my computer.
I am entering the Valentine above into the City Crafters Challenge create a card/project for Valentine's day or have the word STORY on your project.  I did not see the Or originally, lol.
On another note, Blogger was not only not letting me comment on blogs this week, but it would not let me put my Tag Tuesday tag on my blog.  I did manage to blog it over at Tag Tuesday though, for those of you that did not see it there, here it is. It is not my usual style I know, but I am trying to grow a little and try new things, like tags also.  The prompt this week was Decay, I printed the image on my printer from MelsBrushes right on to the tag, used some Glitz Spritz and Distress ink along with a die cut Zombie hand done with my Zing.  Be sure to stop over and see all the other beautiful tags at Tag Tuesday.
Well that's it, thanks for stopping by and thanks for looking.  ~Diane

Cards I made with my Zing

Hi All, thought I would share some of the things I have been making with you.  I have been busy playing with my Zing, learning how to alter files and make my own with the Make The Cut program.  For those of you who have asked, the Zing is a KNK Zing, it is an electronic or digital die cutting machine.  It cuts all different thicknesses and does print and cut too.  I did not know what it was either, until I started looking to replace my Cricut, so happy to say goodbye to that company!  I won't even buy their embossing folders, they don't play fair at all in the crafting community, selling machines with the promise of letting you use software to make and import cutting files, then pulling the rug and suing the companies who made the software that made their machines so popular, just so they could lock you into buying 80$ cartridges!!  That was a real dirty deal!  Well I don't need their folders anyway because I can make my own with my KNK Zing!
The 1st card is a Bendy card, the cut file is available from Birdscards.com.
The 2nd and 3rd cards were done with the Pixel trace tool in MTC using free clip art I found on the web.  The 4th card was a round door file from Bird that I changed out a bit to look like a more modern door, her file used a rounded door.  Well, that's it for today, I have more cards to share, I hope to post them later in the week.  I hope to catch up with your blogs this week too.  As always, thanks for looking.  ~Diane

Getting Ready for Sweetest Day with a sale!

Hi All, I thought you might enjoy a peek at a sweet little
Sweetest Day card I made.  I am sure you could use this for any occasion, even no occasion, lol,  just a chance to send a sweet suggestion to the one you love.  I used Lindsay's Stamp Stuff Ooh LaLa SVG for the corset and cut it using MTC and my Zing.  Such a cute way to send a love note or make it small and stick it in an invitation to a bridal shower with the brides bra and panty sizes.  Speaking of Lindsay, swing by her My Graphico shop and take advantage of the 40% off sale she has going on October 3rd through the 5th!
Just in case you noticed, I had to have an envie liner to go with this, the shoe is from laobc, there was only 1 shoe so I positioned them together in MTC, the shoes positive is on a piece of Zyron paper so you can use it as an envelope sealer too.  I edited this in Pic Monkey because my photography is poor, it is actually black and white in real life, sorry the photography does not reflect it.
That's it for today, thanks for looking.  ~Diane

Some spooky fun!

Hi All,just a quick post today.  I made these quick cards using Gecko Galz Nevermore collection of papers, they have some really spooky papers in this set!  I am not sure if you can see, I used a die cut from Dragons Crossing, placed the die cut on the Nevermore paper then placed the negative into the envelope as an envie liner.  So I made use of the positive and negative both on the image I cut with my Zing die cutter.  The moon is from Graphics Fairy.
That's it for today, thanks for looking.  ~Diane

Garden gatefold envelope and cards

Hi All, I made this fancy floral envelope with a SVG die cut from Bird at Birds Cards, stop by and say hello her work is gorgeous and she designs and offers these SVG die cuts free of charge!  I cut the SVG on my Zing and then hand cut the green liner beneath.  The card is made with an image from Crafty Secrets digital stamp set Flower Garden Set.  I took a few pictures so you could see how the card fits into the envelope.  I also wanted to show you how I changed it up using a Word tool adding the shadow to the card that says Love.  I shaded the edges in gray but the shading on the leaves was all done by a setting in Word.  I think it's pretty cool, I added the words to the picture using Word too, the cool font came with the digital set.  I also embossed the cards with a Stampin Up plate, I wish I would have thought to emboss the inside of the green envelope liners, that would have really looked cool.  Well that's it for today, thanks for stopping by and as always thanks for looking.  ~Diane

1st Communion card

Hi All, I made this for my friend Meg's grandson.  I am showing you 2 shots of the same card, I wanted you to see how the cross lines up in the center of the Word Art 1st Communion and also to see that I used a clear see through polyester card and mounted the printed sheet of card stock behind it.   I cut the Iron Cross image from a Penny Duncan CD and the double frame is from Alaa Studios Fancy Frame 2.  I mounted 1 frame inside on the white card stock and the other on the outside clear.  When you close the card the smaller outside frame lets the larger inside the card frame show through.  I wracked my brain trying to come up with a good design for the envelope, since all my friends expect them to be lined now.  I was going to put some paper with yellow roses in it, then I realized what 8 year old boy wants to see yellow roses?  Then the idea of putting his name and 1st Communion came to me, I think she will love it.
I love it because I cut it with my KNK Zing, I am learning more and more each day!  A big thanks to Julie at MTC Tuts, she has been an angel to help me figure out the new program, I could not have made this with out her help.  Anyone else needing help with learning Make The Cut come join the Yahoo group, everyone is friendly and so very helpful.
Well, that's it, thanks for looking.  ~Diane

Gecko Galz Beautiful Colors Papers

Hi All, sorry I have been MIA again, I had a little knee surgery and I have been trying the new Feedly, not a good combination, they both have made it a little harder to get around ha ha!!  The experts say Feedly should be the closest to Google's Reader (which we will all lose in July), but I find it does operate quite a bit differently.  I am still trying to find my way around in it.  Unlike Reader when you have read something it does not always disappear, sometimes it stays there a few days and if you have any sort of memory problems it may take you a bit to realize you read that already, ha ha!   It does import from Reader very easily!  But I still have problems remembering where to click on to go to the blog to comment, sometimes it takes me 3 clicks.  I think I may try Bloglovin, quite a few bloggers have suggested that.  I would love to know what you are trying too.
Well, I wanted to share these cards I made with Gecko Galz Beautiful Colors Paper Collection 2011, the cards aren't too detailed but I think the paper is so gorgeous it sorta speaks for itself!  You all know how much I love papers (especially these)!  I did fussy cut 3 of the flowers and mounted them on top with some dimensional foam.  My son did the photography for me.
I also wanted to share my win on Pinterest, Gecko Galz has a Pin it to Win it contest monthly, I won a gorgeous set of digital stamps called Rose Garden for the month of March.  The April contest is for another beautiful set called "Belissima", a really beautiful set too!  I am going to make it easy for you, I am including the link to my Pinterest Pin so you can Repin it, really it doesn't get any easier than this!
I may be MIA a few weeks longer so please forgive me if I don't catch up on the blog posts I have missed, I just purchased a KNK Zing with the MTC software and I am very excited to learn how to use it!  I will be sharing more on that in the future.
Well that's it, thanks for looking.  ~Diane
